WANG NIANDONG BIOGRAPHY


Wang Niandong was born in 1978 in Zigong, Sichuan Province, China. He attended Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing from 1997 to 1998. He did his graduate study at the oil painting department of Sichuan Fine Art Institute in Chongqing from 1998 to 2002. Wang currently teaches in Sichuan Fine Art Institute. He splits his time in Chongqing and Beijing.

May 1999 Oil painting “Woman’s Portrait" was selected for Sichuan Fine Art Institute Annual Art Exhibition, Chongqing, China

April 2000 Installation "Egg That the Fast Food Makes” and photograph "The Dragon Is in Towns and Villages All over the Country”’ were exhibited in Chongqing, China

September 2000 Urban sculpture “Mother and Son" was installed on People's Great Hall Square in Chongqing, China

December 2000 Oil painting “Breathe Underwater" won the Artistic Award out of more than 5000 works selected for Pacific Area
Asian Art Award Exhibition hosted by Nokia.

January 2001 Urban sculptures "Modern Girl Who Walks” and "Person That Thinks” were installed in Chongqing, China

April 2001 Solo exhibition of installation work "There, Some Voice” took place in Chongqing, China

June 2001 Photography works “The Swirl" were selected for International Photography Exhibition, Qingdao, China

September 2001 Participated in "Abroad" – an online inter-dynamic idea art exhibition collaborating with artists from German Kassell Art Institute in Chongqing, China and German Kassell

November 2001 Synthesized Chinese ink installation "Ultimate, Samsara, Field" took place in Chongqing, China

December 2001 Wang was interviewed by CCTV (Chinese Central Television Station) at his studio for a program called "Starry Sky of Fine Arts.” Chongqing, China

March 2002 Selected artist for the full length oil painting "Get a Bird's-eye View of Chongqing" for Chongqing International meeting, AAPP (The Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace), Chongqing, China

June 2002 Oil paintings “Soaking" and "Body Temperature” were selected for Contemporary Art Exhibition in Chongqing, China
September 2002 Oil painting "Soaking" was selected for Open Serial Exhibition at Chongqing Museum of Art, Chongqing, China

February 2003 Oil painting "Soaking" was selected for Chinese National Exhibition of Outstanding Graduate Works, Shenzhen, China

April 2003 Oil paintings "From 200 Meters of Banks" and "Parking Stall" were selected for the First Oil Painting Exhibition of Chongqing, Chongqing China
