ZHOU JIAHUA BIOGRAPHY

Zhou Jiahua was born in 1956 in Jia Ding, a small town outside Shanghai, China. He graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1980.

Zhou is currently a professional painter at the Shanghai Oil Painting & Sculpture Institute. He is also a member of the Chinese Artists’ Association.

He is also Art Director of Shanghai Grand City Group involved with land development and metropolitan planning. Their current project is Shanghai Metropolitan Museum of Art, which will open in 2009.




ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE AND ACTIVITIES:

Zhou Jiahua worked as a journalist for magazines like New Vision and Chinese Art News. They were among the first Chinese art publications.

He was the curator and director of the Shanghai 99 Art Show and the Chinese Art at 20th Century Exhibition.

Zhou founded the Jin Wen Art Centre in Jin Mao tower – the tallest building in Shanghai. He served as the Art Director for this centre and organized the first Jin Wen Art Show and the New Generation of Russian Art.

Zhou was the art director and designer for the Shanghai APEC Meeting. He created the stage play "Searching for the Lost Elegant Demeanor," performed at the Shanghai Grand Theatre.

Zhou was also the founder of Design and Space Magazine.

Zhou was Curator of “Chinese 1st International Prominent Artists Exhibition” and “Chinese 20th Century Masterpiece Art Exhibition”
